Nepal Trip and Holistic Approach to the Needs

AN-Satya

Friends, I just got back from Nepal. I traveled halfway around the globe and spent one whole month in Khokana, my birthplace which is also one of the most affected areas by the recent earthquake.  The 7.8 magnitude scale earthquake shook the very foundations in the western and central regions of Nepal on 25th April 2015.  Waves of aftershock followed by another fresh 7.4 Rector scale quake destroyed other remaining infrastructures in Khokana. The aftershocks of 4-5 magnitude scale are persistently felt almost every day. I was there for relief work, solely focusing on the community health project. Needs are sky high; generous gifts from people and national/international humanitarian agencies have been helping people with basic needs.

My one-month stay was fruitful, in the sense, that I was able to build six permanent toilets for a displaced community of more than 100 people which consists of 27 households living in their temporary shelters on a public property called Bäkhä (pronounced as Baa Khaa). Prior to my arrival there, they had only two makeshift toilets made of only bamboo and corrugated galvanized zinc roofing sheets. No proper sewage management or privacy. One of them was already knocked down thus unusable.

Basic survival needs are demanding, as they will be living in temporary shelters for, at least, the next two years. Some of those living in shelters will never be able to come out and move back to the old resettlement due to poverty. They might end up living in the slum. Yet, these people did not look broken. I saw their will to come out of this situation. I saw their resilience to get up and move on. Meantime, the spirit of dependence on outsiders also was prevalent among other survivors. Those in need had less or nothing, but others who already had were amassing more. Greed, selfishness, dissensions, discord, and jealousy are pervading the once generous hearts.

Sometimes, we easily lose sight of eternity when something bad happens to people, and we tend to care only about their physical needs. As much as they need help amid this magnitude of the catastrophe, they also need a redeemer who can see them through and through and change their hearts. God has called us to be ambassadors to show his love through our actions. Please pray for the survivors that Christ’s love will be manifested in their lives. And also pray for God’s people who are working to bring the hope of Christ to the displaced people.

Stay Tuned In : Nabeel Qureshi Debates Shabir Ally

Stay tuned in to watch live stream of a debate between Dr. Nabeel Qureshi (a former Muslim), author of Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus and Imam Dr. Shabir Ally on the question, “What Is God Really Like: Tawhid or Trinity?” at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (EDT). Apologetics Canada claims in its Facebook page that Imam learned debating skills by watching another prominent Christian apologist Dr. William Lane Craig.

Dr. Qureshi is in the RZIM’s speaking team. This is what he had to say about Dr. Ally:

“I’m honored to debate Dr. Shabir Ally. The last time I saw him was in 2004 when I was still a Muslim. I was watching him debate and was hoping he’d win.”

Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to watch Dr. Qureshi taking on Dr. Ally.

Statutory Directives from Uncle Screwtape

I wrote this letter on behalf of Screwtape to Wormwood for an online class ‘The Literatures of C.S. Lewis.’ and later published it in my blog.

My dear Wormwood,

I was very disappointed after I went through some lines of your last letter. You seemed to be wasting precious time in vain. Now is the time to strike the Patient’s mind when he is focused on the Enemy. Having said that, I also strictly caution you not to make any hasty move either. Watch out for his every thought and action and discern his motives. Be careful in your excitement. As I have mentioned early that the gradual degradation of human animals’ spirituality is good for us and it best works in our favor.

Your Patient certainly knows how to use modern technologies in the market. The Enemy’s two-legged animals have proved how much gifted they are from the Enemy by setting their feet on the moon. Their intelligence is not always good for them too. Some of these have already demonstrated that they also could be our helpful agents to wage war against their race. At present, some are posing a threat to the world due to weapons of mass destruction. But then people are developing new concepts and tools to promote an invisible web on the air called the “World Wide Web” or generally the internet.

We want more confusion so that doubt will rule over the ninny Patient. But there is also a great risk too that might open his eyes to see his inward spiritual state and outward response to his action.

The latter tool is accessible to even children worldwide. No other tool will be more effective than that. Your Patient is very familiar with it. However, he has learned to handle it properly recently. Thus, the Enemy has sidelined us from the Patient’s interest.

You, however, ought to change the strategy of your manipulation of your Patient. Otherwise, he could be a grave threat to our plan. Then, you know the consequence that you’ll have to bear. First, make him stop reading Enemy’s book called the “BIBLE.” Rather, help him to do more research online for his spirituality than reading the Word and obeying the Enemy. By doing this, he’ll find more complicated and unreliable resources that some of our agents have championed. We want more confusion so that doubt will rule over the ninny Patient. But there is also a great risk too that might open his eyes to see his inward spiritual state and outward response to his action. So, you must divert his attention from that kind of resource, and lure him to fix his eyes on the conspicuous advertising banners. Do not get freaked out when you see gorgeous young women on the internet, lest; he will know your purpose and cease to be a wishy-washy man.

Second, influence him and take him into your confidence before you make another move. Make him believe that browsing the internet to watch beautiful women is not a sin, since he meets dashing and charming women every day. Keep in mind that these revolting creatures of the Enemy can be easily attracted by the skin-deep beauty of their opposite sex. Now, use every coherent argument, if needed, as a weapon to persuade him to watch semi-nude pictures of women. Remind him of his past heydays and how much he enjoyed going to the beach and basking his back in the sun glaring at those beautiful women in bikinis. Find out if he finds any difference between those women in bikinis on the beach and other women in bikinis on the internet. If he feels comfortable with it, you are half done.

Finally, know the weakness of these stubborn animals. Now, hit the spot! Persuade him to visit the forbidden sites that contain exclusive pictures and videos. You must not retreat until you make sure that his mind is absorbed in whatever he is watching on the sites. You have to treat your Patient very well and be very cooperative at this point until he moves toward the slippery slope of any form of addiction whether it be porn or whatever. The open gate of our Father Below in the Hell will be wide for him if you can guide him to now other levels – a dark pit of adultery or fornication from where he can never come out.

Your affectionate uncle

Biblical Nuggets: Coins of the Gospel- A Silver Shekel

A Silver ShekelRome operated a mint in Tyre that produced silver shekels of high purity (94 percent silver or more). These and half-shekels were the only coins accepted by the temple in Jerusalem. The high priests paid Judas with silver shekels like this one to betray Christ (Matt 26:15). This was also the coin Jesus told Peter to find in the fish’s mouth (Matt 17:27).

Biblical Nuggets: The Sanhedrin

The Jewish high court of justice consisted of 71 men and was led by the high priest. The council could decide almost any fate of its people – except the death penalty, which was decided by the Romans. The court was located within the Chamber of Hewn Stone inside Herod’s Temple.
